Course Description
This 2-day (14-hour) course of instruction is designed to provide an introduction to International and U.S. Environmental Protection regulations that apply to the maritime industry.
Prerequisites-This course is designed for all mariners.
What You Will Learn
Students who satisfactorily completed the 14-hour course “Environmental Regulations and Permit” offered by the Maritime Advancement, Training, Education and Safety Program through the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies. This course of training covers Marine Vessel Operations and the Environment; the EPA General Permit for Commercial Vessels including application, compliance and general requirements of the EPA Vessel General Permit for commercial vessel. Specific areas covered include requirements for permit administration, management systems necessary to assure compliance, effluent limitations, corrective actions, monitoring recordkeeping and reporting.
