Course Description
This course is intended to provide specialized training for personnel responsible for operating liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGC). The attendee will be provided with instruction, information, and experience relevant to their assigned duties. Classroom training is augmented with opportunities for hands-on application using the cryogenic simulator.

- CFR 13.309
- CFR 13.409 or 13.509 for a tankerman endorsement

Students who successfully completed a two-week U.S. Coast Guard Approved 70-hour Tank Ship Liquefied Gas Course, offered by the Maritime Advancement, Training, Education and Safety Program through the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies, has been instructed in regulations and codes of practice; chemistry and physics; health hazards; cargo containment; pollution; cargo handling systems; ship operating procedures; safety practices and equipment; emergency procedures and general principles of cargo operations. This course satisfies the training requirements of 46 CFR 13.209 13.309, 13.409 or 13.509 for a tankerman endorsement; and the tanker familiarization and liquefied gas tanker training requirements of paragraphs 1-7 and 22-34 of Section A-V/1of the STCW Code.
